Roatan's reef, which is the second largest coral barrier reef in the world, offers you the most spectacular scuba diving and snorkeling in the Western Caribbean. We have at least 85 different coral types, sponges, fishes and marine species as well as warm, clear blue water and excellent visibility. Every season brings something new to see underwater, as you watch the marine life bloom, grow, and change. All of this and more makes Roatan a world class destination for divers.
All dive shops in Roatan offer boat dives and some of the best dive sites are just moments out from West End. Roatan's unique biology creates a haven for underwater photographers, novices and professionals alike. The variety of colors you can find here is far greater than you would expect in the Caribbean. Never taken underwater pics before but want to? No problem, West End has its own underwater photography center which can set you up with film, equipment, classes and slide development.
The newest addition to the multitude of diving sites close to West End is a wreck dive! Join the sea life swimming in and out of this historic ship. Roatan also offers the unique opportunity to dive with the dolphins at Anthony's Key Resort. These dolphins have been on the island for over a year now, and two more dolphins were born in captivity in September of this year. By reservation, you may schedule a dive with these fascinating animals to observe their behavior as they observe yours. And who knows, there's always a good chance you'll be joined by wild dolphins on your dive!
